Anatomy  -> Plastinated Specimens   -> Whole Body Specimens   -> Body No. 3
Body No. 3 is adjusted to anatomical position with slight differences in each specimen. It displays relatively deep layers of the body and varying degrees of dissection are implemented on each side to display different structures.
1. Head and Neck
- All cranial nerves, with their branches, as well as the main peripheral nerves of the neck are presented on one side, while the other displays all the main arteries and some veins, with their respective branches
2. Thorax, Abdomen and Pelvis
- The frontal thoracic and abdominal walls are removed to reveal the inner organs
- In the thoracic cavity, the dissected heart and lungs are divided at the diaphragm from the abdominal cavity, where the liver with gallbladder, and spleen are demonstrated
- Retroperitoneal organs including kidneys with ureters, duodenum, pancreas, as well as the aorta with branches, inferior vena cava (or part thereof), and main branches of the lumbar plexus are exposed
- All the organs and structures of the small pelvis are displayed
- Both the perineal structures and the external genital organs will be dissected
3. Extremities
- Deep muscles, main joints with their ligaments and peripheral nerves are exposed through dissection on one side
- On the other side deep muscular dissection combined with arteries (main veins when required), and joints complete with capsules and ligaments
Silicone Plastinates are plastinated specimens from real human bodies. They include almost every body part from organs and nerve systems to whole body specimen.
Silicone Plastinates have a high didactical value and are particularly suitable for universities and museums. Their unique three-dimensional complexity illustrates the intricate structure of the musculoskeletal system and the inner organs as well as their relative position to each other. These specimens keep their natural form and thus allow students and professionals to examine structures and details of the body better than any model.
More than 400 teaching institutions around the world use plastinated specimens for teaching.
Silicone Plastinates are odorless and not harmful to health even when handling without gloves. They are durable, flexible, authentic, do not shrink. Anatomy specialists dissect our specimen with painstaking detail and anatomical precision to assure accuracy and highest quality.
All Plastinates are produced in Germany, near Berlin. Each Plastinate is handmade and produced under strict ethical guidelines.
